Tile and Stone INSTALLATION

Grout lines are the spaces between individual tiles that are filled with a mixture of water, sand, and cement-like material or epoxy. Creating visible grout lines is a precise process that should not be disturbed. Once all of the tile flooring pieces are set, the grout will need to cure before the floor can be used. If the grout is not cured, tile can shift and create an uneven appearance.

Unless you have the proper tools such as a tile cutter and caulking guns, and previous tile installation skills, we do not consider tile installation to be DIY-friendly. When installing tile floors, you will need to know how to properly use grout, tile adhesive, filler, tile spacers, sanitary sealant, and tile trim. We recommend hiring professionals over attempting a DIY tile installation for the time saved and superior, precise finished floors.

Installing larger-sized tiles can help smaller rooms feel bigger by reducing the number of seams and grout lines in the finished floor. Larger tile sizes produce an uncluttered visual and make the surface area of the room appear larger. Additionally, larger-sized tile and natural stone formats create a more luxurious and grand appeal but showcasing more of the trademark striations, tones, and veining. With fewer pieces to install across the floor, larger tile sizes can also result in quicker installation times.

Since tile is available in a wide range of shapes such as squares, rectangles, hexagons, diamonds, circles, ovals, and more, you can create truly unique installations. Tile also comes in all sizes from tiny to large format tile, so the opportunity to create a mixed-size patterned designs is extremely doable.

You can also work with your tile installers to create a traditional parquet, chevron, herringbone, or diagonal stripe tile installation. In smaller kitchens, dining rooms, and bathrooms, these layouts can enhance perspective, distinction, and elevate the overall feel. Custom tile layouts will take extra planning but will add impressive, upscale appeal.
